How It’s Calculated
Every ratio comes from just two values on the unit circle — sin θ and cos θ. tan θ = sin θ / cos θ, and cosec, sec and cot are simply the reciprocals of sin, cos and tan respectively. When cos θ = 0 (at 90°, 270°, and so on), tan and sec are undefined — this calculator flags that instead of showing a meaningless huge number.
Worked Example
At 30°: sin 30° = 0.5, cos 30° = 0.866, so tan 30° = 0.5/0.866 = 0.577. Cosec 30° = 1/0.5 = 2, sec 30° = 1/0.866 = 1.155, cot 30° = 0.866/0.5 = 1.732.
